Point Marion Lock And Dam - Monongahela River


Description: These structures provide a navigation channel for commercial and recreation traffic on the Monongahela River from Pittsburgh to the Opekiska Lock & Dam and Morgantown, WV. From Pittsburgh, follow PA 837 S to observe life on the "Mon" River.

Directions: Directions to Lock: From Pittsburgh take I-279s through Fort Pitt Tunnel to I-79S to Waynewburg, PA exit. Take this exit and turn left onto Rt. 21E. Follow Rt 21E approximately 11 miles to Rt. 88S at Paisley. Turn Right onto Rt. 88S and follow it approximately 13 miles to the end of Rt. 88. You have the option of turning left across the bridge or going straight. Go straight onto the local road. Approximately 8/10 of a mile you will see the project sign. Turn left in front of the sign onto the project's access road.Directions to the Abutment: Follow as above to Point Marion. Cross the Point Marion Bridge and turn right into the Glass Factory's parking lot.Walk to the south end of the factory's lot, over the hill to the railroad tracks, and up the trackt to the abutment.
